Kenelm Lee Guinness

 

Kenelm Guinness began his motor racing career, in the 1907 Isle of Man Tourist Trophy.

In 1913 & 1914 he was a works driver for the Sunbeam team, along with Henry Segrave.

In 1922, at Brooklands, he set a new outer circuit lap record of 121.54mph, as well as world records over 1/2 mile, 1km, 1 & 2 miles, with a flying start.

His World Land Speed Record was set on 17th May 1922, at Brooklands, driving a Sunbeam, fitted with a 15.395 litre V-12 'Manitou' engine of 350hp. 

He achieved 129.17mph over 1 Mile, and the Record was set at 133.75mph over 1 Km. 

Driving a Talbot 70, he won the Swiss G.P. on 15th June 1924, and the JCC 200 miles at Brooklands on 20th September 1924.
